Out with the Old, In with the New

About a month ago I went looking at cars. I was planning on going to Missouri with my family, so I just wanted to get an idea of what I wanted to buy so I could think more seriously about while on our vacation. Who would know that I would actually get suckered in that very day into buying one. ( I still don't know if I've forgiven that salesman yet) It was just so cute!

When I got home from vacation, it was time to sell my stalwart Dodge Shadow that I have been driving around for the past 3 years. My dad and I both advertised it in various places on the internet and in the Thrifty Nickle.

When I got that car, we bought it for $1,100. Now looking to sell the car, Dad looked it up on Nada, and the low price for my car was a $1,200. I was thinking we could only get $800 out of it. Still we posted it at this sum, thinking we would use this extra price range for haggling purposes. The car did need new tires anyways.

Last Wednesday, I watched my John Deere "Git 'r done" bumper sticker drive away, a supplementary bonus thrown in with the final non- questioned $1,200 sold price. Not too shabby, eh? Buy a car at $1,100, drive it for three years, and sell it for $1,200. That's probably the cheapest car I'll ever have owned! :)

My new car is a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. And although it's not as nice as  the Physician's Assistant's little run-around car, a 2008 Corolla S (He describes it as a cheap car with no power or get up and go) It still makes me happy :)
