Happy Birthday Heidi

I was cleaning my closet a couple weeks ago and was going through some old school papers. (Old, eh, it was only a year ago...) And I found this in my notes. Look, Heidi! I remembered you in my class!! Hope you feel special. Happy Birthday Heidi. You are amazing, I look up to you in so many different ways, and I love you!

Looks like it was a fascinating day in Business for Art Majors...

Dan and Allison

I shot an engagement session last night. Dan and Allison were fun to work with and I really enjoyed photographing them. I hope they had fun too. (Thanks Sam for assisting me!!) Here are some of my favorites of them.

A Date with Frank

As I left work Tuesday night, one of my co-workers asked me what I had planned for that night. I only felt minimally ashamed of my lame life when I replied "Nothin' ". Then trying to compensate for my non-life, I told her I was creative and I'd find something to do.

That something came in the form of "Hey Sam, (my roommate) What are you doing tonight? She didn't have big plans either, so I suggested going out shooting. Sam is a student at BYU-Idaho and started this semester as a Photography Major. (Though, she tells me she is going to change it to something different so that she can actually get a job after she graduates. I don't know how she got that idea...) She loved it the idea.

As we were driving out I commented on her windshield. "Do you have any windshield washer juice? I can barely see". Her reply to the question was negatory. I told her we probably had some in the garage at my parents house we could fill her cars needs with. I needed to pick up some stuff there anyways. We'd just make a quick stop and be on our way. It was a quick stop, but we didn't head on our way.

When we pulled in Jason was out in the driveway (where I usually find him these days) with his friend, Tyler. They were admiring FrankenJeep, Frank for short. Frank is the Jeep Jason bought to rip apart and put back together. I'm amazed at all that he's done to it so far, it is going to be Sweeet! when he completes the project.

Sam and I hopped in the back conspicuously hoping for a spin at the same time Jason turned and started walking away. I commented to Sam, "What does a girl have to do around here to get a ride?" Jason turned around with a smile on his face, and came back telling us he would gift us with a ride around the block. We got halfway around the block before Tyler commented to Jason, "Hey, let's take this where I broke my differential." Mmmm...Okay!

Quickly, we were turned around and heading towards the Menan Butte. I was already regretting leaving my camera behind. It turned out to be one of the best jeepin' trips I've ever been on! It was so much fun! So much for that quick trip to Burton, although I didn't have any objection to it, neither did Sam. I loved that there aren't any doors on this Jeep, it totally adds so much to the experience. I could reach out and touch the rocks we were riding though, getting in and out was easy, and I could smell the sagebrush we were riding through. We all got so dusty! By the end of the trip, Sam's white shirt was closer to brown and we were all chewing sand for our nighttime snack. Many times throughout the night I was repeatedly disappointed at myself for not grabbing my camera as Jason climbed rocks and got in some pretty crazy places.

When it got dark we headed back to Burton. I was enjoying the night air with the great ventilation Frank offers and talking to Sam, when all of the sudden, it got quieter. Tyler had shut of the engine (he had taken over the driving). The engine was overheating. We coasted until we came to a complete stop. Jason and Tyler both got out to look under the hood. A couple minutes later and they were still checking out the engine. I decided to get out and view the damage as well. Everything under the hood was wet. I don't know a lot about engines, but I knew that wasn't good. Something blew up in the engine somewhere (see?). The wet everywhere was anti-freeze.

Obviously we had to get home somehow. We were still about maybe 10 miles away? The pushing began. I didn't even mind pushing Frank, I secretly thought it was kind of fun to be honest. We pushed it maybe a mile, and then Jason's other friend, Bryce, came with his big diesel truck and towed us home. Thank goodness Jason has good friends with big trucks :)

Here is a picture of Sam and I taken after the trip. We were a lot dustier than we look in the picture. I was still getting dirt out of my ears this morning!

And that was the end of our impromptu adventure! Thanks Jason for the exciting time! Can't wait till next time when I WILL be prepared with my camera!
