Advertising and Marketing

The time has come for me to really dig in and advertise. Not myself, but my photography busyness! At least I want it to be busy!

As I have little [no] experience in advertising, I have a request of my few blog buddies. Does anyone have any cool ideas of advertising ideas for a small, beginning portrait business? Give me any and all ideas that I could possibly utilize. As could be expected, my budget isn't overflowing with money power yet. But, gimme what cha got! :) Let's hear 'em!

There is one photographer in the area who I have been hearing about lately. I've checked out her blog a couple of times and I am not impressed with her work. Yet she's got new clients all the time. I'm better (and I do say that humbly :) ). I need some of dem clients crawling up to my camera! I can make them happier. I'm sure of it :)

This is my call for help. Por favor? Gracias!

Just in case you haven't seen my work before, here is my website and my blog.

Have you tried the yellow pages?

Location location location! Or as we say in the marketing world: Demographic Demographc Demographic! We need to get you a listing on Google maps. That alone would be a boost I bet. If we do some SEO on your website, it would probably help too. If you're wiling to so some (more...I bet you have been doing) slight discount work, you could have some snazzy dazzle cards made up to be coupons. Get 20 made and give 2 each to your next 10 clients, to have them give to their friends "We loved our wedding photographer, and look, she gave us a coupon to give out."

I have to go now, because the parking people just came out...but there are some ideas to get you going.

Put a listing on Craigslist and any free website people frequent.
The tip with Craigslist is to post it new everyday so it's always at the top.

Yeah, I was going to say Craigslist, and then see if there's any news stations that do anything up there. I know that KSL here has a free classifieds section on their website that receives a lot of traffic!

Yes, I'm agreeing with the coupons like Ryan said, and also the Craigslist thing.

Looks like Ryan stole my idea, I will one up it though. Here is a website that talks about how to actually get yourself listed. Click Here for more info. I've thought about listing my side business but then I remember how busy I already am and then I think "that was close" Maybe some snazzy photocopied ads for placement at some restaurants in town with a coupon. Don't forget to put in your website.

Also You should put an ad in TidBits, you know that little newspaper with tidbits in it that you can pick up at any restaurant. I think the adds start at 12 Bucks a week or used too.

Also don't forget the usefulness of eastidaho.craigslist.com

Those are my ideas.
