My beloved blog follower(s),
I have a question I would enjoy your feedback about. Among the advertising venues I have been considering for Sophistikate Portraiture and Design, I have thought of advertising in the Yellow Pages. I would be paying $25.00 a month for a one inch collumn ad. Green text on white. With my name without my logo.
Your opinion. Is it worth it? Or has the yellow pages become nearly useless due to internet use? Would those $25 dollars be of more use in a different form of advertising?
Ready? Set? GO! Cast your votes! Thanks!
In return, I am working on the next fun filled exciting blog. (Thinking of doing it is the first step, right?)

I say definitely stick with online advertising. Phone books are so old school I don't think you'd get much, if any business from that avenue. I say blast yourself everywhere online for free such as Craigslist or the Rexburg equivalent of KSL Classifieds. Use the networks you already have, join local online groups (I've gotten many clients from an online mommies group I frequent). Make sure people know what you do and that you're good at it! = )
If you're going to do print then use flyers on free bulletin boards at stores, "coffee" houses, local hangouts, on campus etc.
Spend the money on some fancy window clings of your logo and info for your car or something.
Does that 25 come with a line that has your web address? Also does it have an online yellow pages that links to your web page? For us yellow page ads are essential or at least a listing. That way when their friend says I used...so and so to remodel my house...they have a way to get our number when the friend no longer has it. But ours is a different business....so my vote is yes if it has a place for your website and an online yellowpages too.
I agree with Jessica and say yes if it can be connected to online as well. Older people or lamos like me actually use the phone book alot... except when Tyler rips them in half. I also agree with Emily, I think that you could offer coupons somehow of like 8x10 free like JCPenney does because really what are you out then you got business at the expense of like $5 right?
Hmmm...good question. I'm thinking of a t-shirt with your name and website on it saying "I take Professional Photos, inquire here"...;)
on your question...i definitely think something online and networking with people. we will have to talk to see what you have been doing and what more you can do.
Would this put you online with the yellow pages? That might be helpful. Also, if you list yourself as a business with the phone company, they will list you on whitepages.com. Good luck!
I never ever ever use the Yellow pages. I might be the exception. I do use Google a ton. A little website optimization could go a long way in people finding you through Google, you could punch that up even further by paying for AdWords. I did a little looking, and you could advertise on Google...it would cost a little more than the phone book, but (Just like the phone book) it's totally targeted, and you can take it a month at a time.
Do you have to pay for a full year with the phone book?
